On being an information entrepreneur

Courses and Workshops

The following workshops are presented by Scott Brown and Kim Dority, two information professionals with extensive LIS career expertise and professional teaching and coaching experience. In addition, both are frequent speakers on LIS topics nationally. Learn more about their backgrounds here.

LIS Career Bootcamps (Onsite)
LIS Career Bootcamps are intensive day-and-a-half onsite workshops held Friday night and all-day Saturday for professional associations, MLIS degree programs, regional LIS organizations, and other groups interested in supporting professional development for their members.

The Bootcamps can be configured in several different ways, depending on client preference. The workshops can combine any two of the workshops listed under LIS Career Workshops, can be an expanded coaching session (with interactivity and multiple handouts) based on any one of these topics, or can be a customized mix of these topics.

The two Bootcamps designed specifically for MLIS students are Graduate with a Degree and a Job, generally offered at the start of the school year to help students immediately start thinking about career-building opportunities as they start and progress through their programs, and Get Ready to Launch: Finding a Job With Your MLIS, typically offered in late winter/early spring for students preparing to graduate and start job-hunting.
